Melanie Parent Events
2016 year in review
I am so grateful for this past year and all that has happened throughout 2016; within my business and for me personally. I am so fortunate that I get to meet so many amazing couples, families and vendors through this line of work. My 2016 has been a year of growth and opportunities in so many ways. But with hard work and a great support system I was able to make many goals come true and pursue my passion in this wonderful industry. Thank you Winnipeg for making Melanie Parent Events 2016 year in review a special one!
We changed our name and re-branded
This was huge for us! Changing our name and re-branding opened up a lot of doors for us and sent us in the right direction. I want to thank Janelle from Bloom and Brilliance for designing our new logo and website. We couldn’t be happier with the results and the new business and opportunities this re-brand has given us.
We had our first printed feature in one of Manitoba’s top wedding magazines. Anyone in the wedding industry or bride to be has heard of Weddingbells Magazine. We were honoured when Kristen and Blair’s wedding was featured in the Fall/Winter issue! They also posted about it over on the blog, you can take a peek here.
We had out first ever web feature for a Styled photoshoot that I styled and designed titled: Raw Influence. This shoot was featured on Vale and Vine: a Canadian fine art wedding blog. Planning a styled shoot is a scaled down version of an event. All the same planning elements and logistics go into it. So we were very proud to show this one off!
Inspiration photo shoots and collaborations:
We had the opportunity to work with Host Winnipeg and Stone House Creative on a “planners editorial shoot”. This shoot was something completely different than what we had done in the past. This shoot brought together some of Winnipeg’s best planners for an afternoon of fun and creativity. We we’re so lucky to be apart of it, and have the talented Victoria Anne Photography capture it all! You can see the entire shoot here.
We love winter weddings, but we just don’t seem to get enough of them. So we decided to plan a winter wedding inspiration shoot to show all our potential couples just how amazing a winter wedding can be! We put a lot of hours of planning into this one, and we froze our butts off; but it was worth it!! Thanks to Winnipeg Wedding Photographers Collective for capturing my work. We will be posting the full shoot on our site shortly.
We have worked at some amazing venues, but this year we had the opportunity to expand our portfolio and include new spaces. Getting to work at new venues or private properties is a must for us. Not only is it new and exciting, but it keeps us on our toes and challenges us to learn and have new experiences.
Once more I want to thank all the couples and vendors whom I have met this past year. Being given the opportunity to work with such a friendly and talented bunch has been great. I can’t wait to do it all again in 2017. One more first for us, we will be at The Wonderful Wedding Show on January 21 and 22 booth #430. Come say hello!
