When it comes to floral arrangements, most of us can look at photos and point out flowers we like, but none of us really know floral details. What are those flowers called? Are they in season? Are they expensive? Does that one flower come in several colours or versions? How much should I allow for the budget? All of these questions are going to come up at some point. So you need to make sure you are asking the right people. Here are some floral tips when meeting vendors:

We always recommend meeting with 2 – 3 different florists. When you go to your meetings, always ask consistent questions and document the answers for future comparisons.   Check out the website to ensure you like the style of work. If you see several bouquets you like, point them out at the meeting.  Ask how much they cost and if they can be re-created based on the season of your wedding. If they are out of your price range, does the florist have enough knowledge to provide you with similar alternatives and suggestions?

We recommend bringing visual aids to the meeting as well. Such as colour swatches of your dress, bridesmaid dresses, or other decor elements. This will give the florist a better understanding of what you are seeking out.  Be sure to bring lots of pictures and ask to see any flowers you’re not familiar with.

Always pay attention to how the florist makes you feel. Do they make you feel comfortable when you ask a million questions or are they frustrated you don’t know the basics? This is so important.  You need to be comfortable and confident when making these decisions.
