2017 year in review
When I started thinking about what to write for Melanie Parent Events 2017 year in review I had a few highlights in my head of how 2017 shaped up for my business. But when I sat down and really looked at all that happened I was blown away by all that I accomplished and had the honour to be apart of! I feel as though when things are happening in real time you can’t fully appreciate them. So today, I want to slow down and take a moment to be grateful for the couples and vendors who trusted me to take on their weddings and events. I am honoured to have worked with each of you in 2017. I am also grateful for the business growth, new opportunities and continuous lessons this past year has given me. I hope you enjoy Melanie Parent Events 2017 year in review.
The Wonderful Wedding Show
In January of 2017 I participated in The Wonderful Wedding Show for the first time and it was AMAZING!!! I had done smaller shows in the past but the scale and production level of this show was on a whole other level. The excitement and anticipation of meeting all my potential new brides/couples was so much fun for me. Doing this show took me out of my comfort zone and really pushed my limits in the best way possible. I can’t wait to be back for 2018 and be part of the $20,000 Dream Wedding giveaway… that’s right, you can enter to win a free wedding with me as your Day of/ Month of coordinator!!! Creativity: Style and Design
Every year I want to better myself and my business by trying new things. In 2017 I really wanted to focus on the creative side and do more style and design work. Naturally styled shoots are the easiest way to practice, so I set two specific intentions:
1. Explore an out of the box location: Tinkertown Family Fun Park
2. Take a current wedding trend and put my own personal spin on it: Bohemian Style
We definitely accomplished just that with these two amazing styled shoots and I couldn’t be happier. Another perk of styled shoots is having the opportunity to collaborate with other talented vendors. New connections
One of the biggest perks of my job is getting to meet and work with such great people. This year was full of new connections and friendships with couples and vendors alike. I had the opportunity to partner with some of the best vendors and talent Winnipeg has to offer! Being able to work alongside these photographers, videographers, florists and other well known industry professionals has been a dream.

It’s always exciting to see my work on wedding blogs. So much effort and love goes into planning every event I’m apart of. So it’s always rewarding when others love my work as much as I do.
