A Traditional Filipino Wedding With a Fall Vibe
Izza & Devyn wanted to include elements of a traditional Filipino wedding at The White Poplar on their big day to celebrate the bride’s heritage! We made sure it was a beautiful day to remember while including many of these traditions and a few other unique elements!
They had a beautiful church ceremony with all the traditional elements of a Filipino wedding, including the lighting of a candle to show unity, the coin blessing, the veiling ceremony, and the tying of the nuptial cord.
After they tied the knot, everyone made their way to the wedding at The White Poplar. This incredible space was the perfect spot for Izza and Devyn to party the night away with friends and family. We kicked things off with signature drinks and appetizers for cocktail hour and sat down to an amazing meal catered by Prairie Kitchen Catering.
We also hired Bark Wedding Date Co. so their wonderful dog Luka could be included in the festivities! I have never been to a wedding where almost every guest asked if the dog was still at the party, he is undoubtedly one very loved pup!
Izza & Devyn were Full Planning clients, so we got the opportunity to design and guide them in selecting their vendors! And we pulled together a dream team of vendors! The gorgeous indoor/outdoor style venue with wood harvest tables and black chairs made their colour scheme pop! They had so many beautiful tabletop details. One of our favourites was the amber coloured goblets! Their seating chart was a statement piece that was absolutely breathtaking and was a gorgeous focal point in their reception space! In addition to the seating chart, we also ensured the cake table and head table were just as eye-catching.
The stunning free standing fireplace as a backdrop to the head table is one of the many reasons we love The White Poplar! We accentuated the chandeliers by adding greenery, which was repurposed from the ceremony aisle decor! We also repurposed their ceremony florals at the seating chart and cake table! Such a great way to save money and get the most bang for your buck with your florals. Be sure to speak with your florist about repurposing pieces and having them do the move-over instead of creating separate pieces.
Can we take a moment and focus on our bride’s dress? Izza’s grandmother made her dress, which was stunning! Grandma also made Izza’s secondary dress, and if you saw anyone else at the party with puffy sleeves, then grandma probably made that one too! They also included another traditional Filipino element to their wedding by having the money dance at the end of the night. This is where guests pin money on the bride and groom to shower them with love and prosperity for their marriage ahead!
We finished the formalities of the night with a little surprise…..Izza had a trick up her dress during their garter toss! She iced her groom by placing a Smirnoff Ice cooler under her dress for him to find and he had to chug it in front of everyone. It was such a fun little surprise and made everyone laugh!
