Modern Wedding at the Winnipeg Art Gallery

Allana and Bart had an amazing wedding at the Winnipeg Art Gallery. They were Month of Coordination clients who decided to add on some design consultation last minute. They were having trouble getting their vision finalized and needed our expertise.

They wanted a modern wedding at the Winnipeg Art Gallery and needed a little help to finalize the details, to tie the space together. They originally had white linens and chairs, but once they hired us to help, we determined white was just too stark against the Winnipeg Art Gallery background. We worked with our vendor teams and updated to a more neutral colour linen with wooden chairs, and those small changes made such a difference!

The ceremony was held on the rooftop terrace. Due to the tight turnaround time between the ceremony and reception, we used two different floral options, as we could not repurpose any of the ceremony décor. We used a silk floral arch at the ceremony to save on cost and get a larger installation for our budget. This arch was the main focal point of the space and it did not disappoint. This allowed us to create two unique spaces. In the reception area, we used real flowers and added a pop of colour. We chose bold pinks and purple tones, which POP’d against the neutral décor.

One unique thing we did when designing Allana and Bart’s floor plan, was to move their head table to the middle of the room. This allowed them to be surrounded by family and friends, plus it drew attention away from the couple. They didn’t want all eyes on them at their reception. This setup allowed the couple to feel a part of the event instead of just being looked at. There were also minimal speeches and no formal dances. This allowed them to get right into the party portion of the night.

This wedding was such a fun one. We always love having a modern wedding at the Winnipeg Art Gallery. It’s always such a unique space to work with.
